Food industries with food information and traceability system have continued access to existing lucrative markets (e.g. European Union). Food importers in Europe, due to EU Regulation 178/2002, will only purchase food products from Malaysia suppliers who have food information and traceability systems.

Malaysian food producers without the system will therefore not be favored as trading partners in the supply of food.

Food industries with food information and traceability systems have the advantage and competitive edge when promoting and marketing their produce. Information on food quality, safety and other parameters such as environmental and sustainable considerations are recorded in the system for public display and inspections to buyers and consumers.
