What is M-FIT?
 

Malaysia Food Information and Traceability (M-FIT) Project was initiated by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi.M-FIT is a Malaysian ‘Information Hub’ or information backbone which links together everyone in the supply food chain from farms rights to buyers and consumers, locally and internationally.

It is fundamentally an electronic database system that permits full chain traceability of food products from ‘farm to fork’. The system communicates food information, traceability data and documents within the entire food supply chain, to consumers and appropriate public authorities, with the aim of improving information flow within the food industry.

M-FIT helps to define national food information and traceability goals for Malaysia, demonstrate methods for achieving these goals and provide an important input into future food industry and food safety legislation.

The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Malaysia and its operating departments such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries, Department of Veterinary Services, FAMA aimed at assisting Private Sectors Achieve the Competitive Edge in Global Marketing of Agricultural Food Products.

Spearheaded by the Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MDEC), M-FIT Project aimed to enable Malaysian agriculture sector to create new values, increase competitiveness in export market and to reach customers globally.
